I am currently providing in home osteopathic treatments through In Your Home Therapy. I am available by email for herbal medicine consultations.
Manual Osteopaths use a variety of hands-on physical treatments. These include soft tissue techniques, joint mobilization, muscle energy treatment and functional (strain and counter strain) techniques. These techniques are normally employed together with exercise, dietary, and occupational advice in an attempt to help patients recover from pain, disease and injury. European style Manual Osteopaths do no prescribe medications or perform surgery, while American style osteopaths perform surgery and prescribe medications as well as using osteopathic techniques in managing a patient's condition.
Initial Visit The initial appointment will last 1 hour. This allows for easier examination. We will go over your intake form and I will take a complete history which includes your entire health history. I will use the information you provide and observations of your physical symptoms to analyze the case. I will check your posture, your gait (the way you walk), the motion of your joints, palpate various muscles, ligaments and tendons to learn about the tone of your tissues (their strength and tension), and whether there are any restrictions. I may also perform any related physical exams. This can include taking your blood pressure. This may include listening to your heart and breathing using a stethoscope, manipulate your joints, palpate your abdomen. Medical Herbalists and Manual Osteopaths are fully trained and qualified in these diagnostic techniques. I am here to help and listen. We will then do a 30 minute manual osteopathy treatment. It’s a good idea to wear loose clothing, such as shorts and a T-shirt or sports bra. I will have recommendations for any appropriate herbs or supplements. We will determine when your 30 minute follow-up appointment at this time, as each situation is unique. Your initial consultation includes 2 free emails to answer any questions. Any additional emails will be considered follow-ups and will be scheduled as such.
